Whether you are new to the aquarium hobby and are looking for your first tank, or a seasoned professional looking for a new piece of glass, the nano freshwater tank is a great place to begin your journey.
Today we will cover 5 nano rimless aquariums ranging in size from ~20 gallons all the way down to 2 gallons.
How Big Can A Nano Tank Be?
Nano aquariums are deemed nano based on their small size, but can also be based on what size/type of fish you keep in them... typically, nano aquariums are under 10 gallons, ask someone else and they might say anything less than 15. I even consider a 20 gallon tank to be nano if its filled with a ton of hardscape and plants.
For the sake of not making this list not overly confusing, we are going to stick with tanks no larger than 20 gallons. Nano aquariums are great for nano fish like chili rasboras, shrimp such as neocaridinia and even betta fish.
One last thing before we begin- All the aquariums mentioned are rimless. The smaller the aquarium, the more obtrusive a rim can be. More an more rimless tanks are becoming available at big box stores, but often are part of larger aquarium kits that are not always desirable. The following list is also not in any particular order, its up to the individual fish keeper to decide what they want.
#1 - UNS 45U (9 gallons)
The Ultumn Nature Systems 45U is a 9 gallon ( 34 liters) rimless nano tank made from ultra-clear low iron glass. It has fairly standard dimensions with an emphasis on depth (17.7 x 11 x 11 inch). Another reason why I love nano aquariums is because it doesn't take a ton of materials to fill them out. Often times you can just use a few items from an established larger tank and your ready to roll!

#2 - Waterbox CLEAR MINI 6 (6 gallons)
This is a pretty fun little tank (14.17 x 9.45 x 11 inch). The aquascape seen in the stock photo can easily be achieved with just a few small rock and a plant or two. Waterbox has a few other nano tanks (16 gallons and under) not featured on this list, so make sure to check out what they have to offer!

#3 - Landen 30C (7.1 gallons)
The Landen 30C is a great budget nano aquarium you can get directly from Amazon Prime! This 7.1 gallon nano tank is actually a cube aquarium 11.8 x 11.8 x 11.8 inch with equal dimensions. Cubes are really fun to aquascape especially with small bonsai trees, one of my favorite styles.

#4 - UNS 25S Aquarium Kit
The UNS 25S is perfect for creating a mini pond style tank. While you can purchase this tank on its own, I'm going to link to a special kit that comes with an ONF Flat Nano LED and stand. Lighting nano tanks can be a bit of a challenge, especially on this 2 gallon shallow tank (9.84 x 9.84 x 4.92 inch). The combo LED with base plate stand is a perfect option for this tank and several others that match the kits dimensions.

#5 - UNS 40C (16 gallon cube)
The UNS 40C cube aquarium (15.75 x 15.75 x 15.75 inch) is the final tank we will showcase. It's an affordable option that offers a lot of space for the avid aquascaper. The largest tank on the list, I still classify it as a nano aquarium because once you fill it up with substrate, hardscape and plants the remaining water volume may be 10 gallons or less.
